S1 - Breaking Closed OEM Supply Chains
17 Nov - From 10:00 to 11:50
Introduction
How owners can regain direct access to components, suppliers and alternative sourcing routes
Many asset owners have excluded main components from their service agreements with the OEM; some have completely cancelled their service agreements, and others cancelled them more than a decade ago. Yet, when contacting the component manufacturer, they are informed: “Well, you know how it is… unfortunately you can’t buy these from us directly”. Although, some owners have started to cancel these somewhat monopolistic arrangements and are buying directly from the component manufacturers.
This roundtable will explore how owners can challenge closed supply-chain structures, increase direct access to component suppliers, and collaborate to reduce unnecessary dependence on OEM-controlled sourcing channels.
