Evren Aktas, Assistant General Manager at Borusan EnBW Enerji in Türkiye

Career description - freely formulated by the organiser:

Evren Aktaş grew up drawn to machines and systems. That passion led him to graduate from Istanbul Technical University in 2002 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. But he didn’t stop there. Curious about how tech and economics intertwine, he earned a master’s in Economics & Finance from Boğaziçi University in 2005.

Straight out of university, Evren joined Borusan CAT as a project engineer, working on cogeneration systems from 2002. He quickly realised that efficiency lies not just in hardware, but in process. By 2006 he was driving operational excellence, becoming a Six Sigma Project Manager—and soon after, a Master Black Belt—honing his skills in precision, analytics, and continuous improvement.

In 2009, Evren found himself drawn to the fast-growing world of renewable energy. He joined the Borusan EnBW joint venture as a Project Manager, guiding wind and solar projects through the planning and construction phases. In January 2012, he took on even more responsibility as PMO Manager and Senior Project Manager, steering complex projects to success.

Today, Evren serves as Assistant General Manager of Power Plants at Borusan EnBW Energy. In this role—held since 2022—he oversees a fleet of around 12 renewable energy plants totaling 725 MW, blending strategic investment with technical excellence. Beyond his corporate role, he shapes Turkey’s renewable future as a board member of the Turkish Wind Energy Association (TÜREB), and occasionally shares his insights publicly—such as in interviews and industry events.

Evren’s journey—from engineering and finance to process mastery and renewable leadership—paints a vivid picture of a professional who builds systems, drives results, and advances clean energy for a better tomorrow.
