Wouter Holbrecht, Head of operations at Luminus in Belgium

Career description - freely formulated by the organiser:

Wouter began his professional path as a field technician in wind energy. On-site at wind farms across Belgium, he learned the nuts and bolts of turbine operation. Out in the field, facing changing weather and remote locations, he built a solid practical foundation—hands-on experience that taught him turbines don’t run themselves.

Stepping into more responsibility, Wouter became O&M Wind Manager at EDF Luminus. He shifted from day-to-day fixes to shaping maintenance strategy, coordinating teams, suppliers, and schedules. His focus was on keeping turbines spinning efficiently and safely, balancing the technical needs of assets with the practical demands of field operations.

In 2015, he was tapped to lead EDF EN Services Belgium as its head. The joint venture between EDF Luminus and EDF EN Services needed someone who understood both field and strategy. He helped establish this new subsidiary, building its capabilities in performance analysis, preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring wind and solar assets remained productive across the country.

More recently, Wouter joined Luminus in an asset management role—supporting the energy transition in Belgium. He now oversees wind portfolio supervision and safety practices, helping guide the shift toward sustainable operations. He also contributes to hiring efforts and represents the company’s technical side in broader transition initiatives.

From hands-on technician to operations leader and asset manager, Wouter’s trajectory reflects steady growth grounded in real-world experience. His career unfolds through roles that always circle back to reliability—first at the blade level, then scaling toward company-wide energy performance.
