S1 - End of Warranty

13 Nov - From 10:00 to 11:50

Introduction

Once you have exited, you can't re-enter the warranty. EOW is a major milestone in wind farm operations. At the end of the warranty period, meticulous adherence to manufacturer specifications and scrutiny of wear and tear on critical components are crucial for wind asset owners. This stage presents an opportunity to ensure structural integrity, optimize performance, and mitigate risks, thus safeguarding the long-term sustainability and profitability of wind energy investments.

Your moderator of this roundtable

Domenico La Barbera, Head of Strategy & Growth - O&M Wind Technology at Enel Green Power

Usually, O2O WIND moderates our owner-to-owner discussions, but we have asked our dear members to help us in Madrid.

A big thank you to Enel!

Is this your cup of tea?

Are these the challenges you are expected to develop in your professional role?

  • How to create and structure maintenance records of all maintenance activities performed during the warranty period, including routine inspections, repairs, and component replacements.

  • How to collect performance data on the turbine's performance metrics, including energy production, downtime, and operational efficiency, to assess compliance with warranty guarantees.

  • Compiling reports on the condition of critical components such as blades, gearbox, generator, and tower to identify any signs of wear, damage, or defects - how is done among the participants around the table?

  • How to document all communications with the OEM regarding warranty claims, technical support, and any unresolved issues.

  • Employ the most efficient data analytics techniques to dissect the turbine's performance metrics, meticulously scrutinizing energy output, downtime frequency, and operational efficiency against stipulated warranty benchmarks.

  • If we have failed to identify and address warranty-related issues during the EOW inspection and missed out on opportunities to claim coverage for eligible repairs or replacements - are there any experiences on how this can be reversed?

  • How could the WTG owners collaborate on general knowledge and best practices related to EOW inspections without disclosing sensitive or competitively significant information?

Joining this discussion with identical peers from other WTG owners will give you a broader understanding, an expanded network and valuable insights.
