S1 - Manage and monitor grease & oil

13 Nov - From 10:00 to 11:50

Introduction

Managing and monitoring oil and grease in wind turbines presents both challenges and opportunities. For example, ensuring the efficacy of lubrication systems, optimizing the viscosity grades for gear oils, and applying complex greases in blade pitch and yaw bearings are challenges. Effective lubrication management is crucial for maximizing turbine efficiency, reducing wear and tear, and enhancing the reliability of gearbox assemblies and generator bearings through meticulous condition monitoring and predictive maintenance strategies.

A big thank you to Eurus Energy!

Is this your cup of tea?

Are these the challenges you are expected to develop in your professional role?

  • How can the rate of lubricant degradation be effectively determined under variable operational stresses to ensure timely maintenance and replacements?

  • What strategies can be implemented to control the ingress of contaminants like water, dust, and debris that significantly impact lubricant performance and lifespan?

  • How can consistency in grease application be ensured, especially in remote or hard-to-access components such as pitch and yaw bearings, to prevent over or under-lubrication?

  • What are the best practices for implementing and maintaining effective lubricant monitoring systems to provide accurate, real-time data and predict maintenance needs?

  • How can environmental regulations regarding the disposal and management of used lubricants be navigated, and what are the options for adopting environmentally friendly lubrication practices to enhance sustainability initiatives?

Joining this discussion with identical peers from other WTG owners will give you a broader understanding, an expanded network and valuable insights.
