S3 - Digitalizing O&M Workflows

13 Nov - From 15:10 to 16:50

Introduction

Digitalizing O&M workflows pays off heavily, but it can also drive you right into an ugly death at high speed. Wind farm operations is a very complex project when it comes to information flows within planning, executing and monitoring. The possibility of automating this flow of information, keeping it updated at all times, and giving access to those who can influence improvements in wind farm operations has a huge impact on your margins. This task is huge.  The different companies who have done their trial and error on this route have found many pitfalls. Sharing experiences will help us to mark up these pitfalls.

Your moderator of this roundtable

Javier López Nieto, Global Head of O&M (excl US) - Onshore Wind and Solar at Iberdrola

Iberdrola is a global leader in renewable energy. With size comes complexity and the benefits of digitalizing these complexities. Usually, these turbine-specific owners' meetings are hosted by O2O WIND, but we have asked the wind asset owners to help us in Madrid.

A big thank you to Iberdrola!

Is this your cup of tea?

Are these the challenges you are expected to develop in your professional role?

  • Initial Assessment: Begin by assessing the current O&M workflows and identifying pain points ripe for digitalization.

  • Figure out how to engage key stakeholders across departments to understand their needs and ensure buy-in for the digitalization process.

  • Define clear goals and objectives of digitalizing O&M workflows, focusing on improving efficiency, reducing downtime, and enhancing data-driven decision-making.

  • Evaluate available digital tools and technologies for digitalizing O&M workflows in wind farm operations - what works well and what to avoid?

  • Test selected digital tools in a controlled environment to assess functionality, reliability, and compatibility with existing workflows.

  • Where do we got stuck trying to achieve this?

  • Back to the basis, how do we align all this with our business objectives? Are all your efforts in this project pushing the end goal of enhancing operational efficiency and maximizing asset performance at the forefront of decision-making and implementation efforts?

Joining this discussion with identical peers from other WTG owners will give you a broader understanding, an expanded network and valuable insights.
