S4 - AI in Wind Farm Operations

14 Nov - From 09:00 to 10:50

Introduction

This is an exciting topic for wind asset owners. Most energy companies have very advanced people on their payroll, and this is a great opportunity to come together to better understand the applications of artificial intelligence in wind farm operations. Incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into wind farm operations offers opportunities for enhancing efficiency, predictive maintenance, and overall performance optimization.

The moderator of this roundtable

Devrim Topcu, Technology and Transformation Mentor at Enerjisa Üretim

Devrim has been improving wind farm operations for Alstom for three years & Siemens Gamesa for 17 years and is doing this today for Enerjisa. The Enerjisa Üretim group is currently developing AI-based Asset Management tools and will bring interesting content to this discussion. Usually, these turbine-specific owners' meetings are hosted by O2O WIND, but for Madrid, we have asked our dear members to help us.

A big thank you to Enerjisa Üretim!

Is this your cup of tea?

Are these the challenges you are expected to develop in your professional role?

  • How could you use AI to predict equipment failures in wind turbines and enable proactive maintenance?

  • How could you optimize turbine settings in real time using AI based on wind conditions and operational data to maximize energy production?

  • How could you utilize AI to identify and diagnose faults in turbines or components to enable timely repairs and maintenance?

  • How could you utilize AI algorithms to forecast electricity generation from wind farms, assisting grid operators in managing grid stability and energy scheduling?

  • How could you implement AI for continuous monitoring of turbine components to detect signs of wear and degradation, alerting operators to potential issues?

  • How could you utilize AI systems to track the performance and health of wind farm assets, optimizing maintenance schedules and prolonging equipment lifespan?

  • How could you adjust turbine operations using AI algorithms to minimize noise levels and address concerns from nearby communities?

  • How could you use AI to control turbine yaw angles to mitigate wake effects from neighbouring turbines and increase overall energy capture efficiency?

  • How could you optimize the coordination of energy storage systems with wind power generation using AI to maximize grid stability and utilize stored energy during low-wind periods?

Joining this discussion with identical peers from other WTG owners will give you a broader understanding, an expanded network and valuable insights.
